Gear and Flame Week Fall 2018

We have been collaborating with Steel City Academy for their Gear and Flame Week .  (#GearAndFlame students have met grade level requirements, so they get to participate in a week of electives focused on vocational skills.)  After a week of exploring, we brought the #KenParr Build-a-Bike to Steel City’s campus in Gary’s Glen Park Community.  Our campers taught the kindergartens how to ride bikes and do a safety check.  Come to the Marshall J Gardner Center for the Arts on 10/13/19 from 4-6pm to learn about the #ServiceProjects our inaugural group of young leaders have been doing across NWI.   Thank you to our Gold Level Sponsor,  NWI Clean Air , our backbone organization  Miller Beach Arts & Creative District , our community partner  Family Folklore Foundation, Inc . and all our individual donors. Adventure Awaits

(Kids biking the Marquette Trail in Gary, Indiana.) Adventure Awaits in the Summer of 2018 Northern Lights Eco Adventures summer of 2018 will be piloting our first Region Service Expedition. This will encompass four nights and five days of a expedition through the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Northwest Indiana. The campers will start in Michigan City and end at the Douglas center. The campers will be backpacking/paddling/and biking through the dunes and beach while learning about the local ecosystems and natural history of the community. The students will also participate in a local service project and community art project. By the end of the trip the students will create a goa l with a action plan of a service project they will conduct in their home community. Build Grant Critical Mass Update

We’ve been happy to help show critical mass for the completion of the  # MarquetteGreenway . Hopefully NIRPC’s BUILD application will get funded. The Marquette Greenway will take bicyclists and pedestrians on a scenic trip around the southern tip of Lake Michigan.
