Day 5 of Camp

Captain's Log June 22, 2018-Ogden Dunes/ Marquette Trail Our final day of camp we partnered with the Calumet Artist Residency and contributed to the Gary Poetry Project.   The campers helped weed the Lagoon Outlook Garden at Marquette Park in Gary’s Miller Community.   Then we had a debriefing session where the campers presented their initial findings to their friends and family. Thank you to Miller Pizza for the dinner donation! Our campers are from Gary, Griffith, Munster, Porter and Valpo.   They will conduct service based learning across Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties. They will showcase these projects to the public on Saturday, October 13 from 4-6pm at the Marshall J. Captain's Log June 21, 2018-Gary/ Marquette Trail/ Chanute Trail/ Miller Woods The kids learned about the importance of creating inclusive programming and park designs for all as they helped with the Adaptive Sunset Paddle.  View this post on Instagram Had to move inside due to the rain but we still ran our workshop on how to paddle with the #DouglasCenter and the #BlindSocialCenter. Captain's Log June 18, 2018-Calumet Trail The kids learned how to properly pack before setting out on the Calumet Trail hike. Our campers are from Gary, Griffith, Munster, Porter and Valpo.
