Wanted Teens Seeking Adventure

We have been collaborating with Steel City Academy for their Gear and Flame Week .  (#GearAndFlame students have met grade level requirements, so they get to participate in a week of electives focused on vocational skills.)  After a week of exploring, we brought the #KenParr Build-a-Bike to Steel City’s campus in Gary’s Glen Park Community.  Our campers taught the kindergartens how to ride bikes and do a safety check.  Come to the Marshall J Gardner Center for the Arts on 10/13/19 from 4-6pm to learn about the #ServiceProjects our inaugural group of young leaders have been doing across NWI.   Thank you to our Gold Level Sponsor,  NWI Clean Air , our backbone organization  Miller Beach Arts & Creative District , our community partner  Family Folklore Foundation, Inc . and all our individual donors. Captain's Log June 22, 2018-Ogden Dunes/ Marquette Trail Our final day of camp we partnered with the Calumet Artist Residency and contributed to the Gary Poetry Project.   The campers helped weed the Lagoon Outlook Garden at Marquette Park in Gary’s Miller Community.   Then we had a debriefing session where the campers presented their initial findings to their friends and family. Thank you to Miller Pizza for the dinner donation! Our campers are from Gary, Griffith, Munster, Porter and Valpo.   They will conduct service based learning across Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties. They will showcase these projects to the public on Saturday, October 13 from 4-6pm at the Marshall J. Captain's Log June 20, 2018-Ogden Dunes/ Marquette Trail The kids prove the need for accessible train stations and completing the Marquette Trail.  They road the train and our camp leaders had to deliver their bikes via truck.    It would be easier to 1 get on at Miller Station with a bike or use a trail. While biking they got polled about whether or not they would like to see the Marquette Trail completed.  They concurred that a united trail would be wonderful.
